At Stay Alfred Vacation Rentals, we’re just as crazy about pizza as you are! This week (April 18th through 24th), Portland is celebrating Pizza Week, so we thought it would be a great time to introduce our guests to some of our favorite pizza joints in the city. Most of these are even offering up $2 specialty slices the whole week. Stop by, grab a bite, and perhaps enjoy one of Portland’s delicious brews while you’re at it.
Baby Doll Pizza: A family favorite of locals. Eat in, take out, or delivery are convenient options for you. here. If you’re looking for efficient pizza that’s still revered for tastiness, this place might just be perfect for you. Gluten free options are available, as well. For Pizza Week, try “The Gavone”- a cheesy slice topped with deep fried chicken, basil, and penne pasta. 2835 SE Stark Street, (503)459-4450
Mississippi Pizza Pub: Not only a great pizza place, but a vivacious community spot, as well. At night, the connecting lounge and venue gets packed for live music, belly-dancing, trivia, and more. Vegan, gluten-free options, and a fantastic beer bar await you at this location, as well. Pizza week offering: Vegan Buddha Pesto with spinach, garlic cloves, white mushrooms, and red peppers. So delicious, even non-Vegans will be impressed. 3552 N. Mississippi Avenue, (503)288-3231
Ken’s Artisan Pizza: Though not participating this time around for Portland Pizza Week, this crafty restaurant still deserves a spot on our list. Ken’s serves up wood-fired pizza at its best. The second you bite into a slice of a classic (like margherita or salami pizza), you’ll be impressed by just how delectable the crust is despite the simple recipe. Not only is the pizza fantastic here, but the salads and sides will win you over, as well. 304 SE 28th Avenue, (503)517-9951
Pizza Schmizza: With five locations (some on each side of the river) Pizza Schmizza has grown to become a Portland classic. Pizza week offering: Nacho Porko with diced tomatoes, jalapeno rings, sour cream, and chipotle sauce. 1036 NW Glisan Street, (503)477-5501
Oven and Shaker: We often recommend this one to our guests. Oven & Shaker is the brainchild of an executive Italian chef and an award-winning bartender. This modern day saloon in the heart of the Pearl District serves up both gourmet pizza as well as classic cocktails with an intelligent twist. Not a Portland Pizza Week participant, but still a must-try for Stumptown pizza fans. Reservations are recommended. 1134 NW Everett Street, (503)241-1600
Sizzle Pie: Multiple locations in Portland that serve up your typical toppings as well as meat-lover’s and totally vegan options. Something for everyone, and a great bar to boot. Pizza week offering: Depends on what location you choose to visit! The Northeast, Downtown, and East Burnside locations will all be serving up something unique. Visit the East Burnside location for both vegan and meat lover’s $2 slices. 624 East Burnside, (503)234-7437
