Sights

The Abandoned Tennessee State Prison:  This abandoned gem, located minutes away from downtown Nashville, has been featured in a multitude of films, including the Green Mile. Plans to tear down the prison were made, but a group called the Tennessee State Prison Historical Society emerged to save its beauty from destruction. 100 Bomar Boulevard, (615)350-3309

The Wild Cow: In a city that’s obsessed with fried chicken and BBQ, The Wild Cow serves as a delicious vegetarian sanctuary. Manuel American DesignsBorn in Mexico in 1933, Manuel Cuevas (better known as simply “Manuel”) has built a career out of dressing rock and country music legends in colorful, heavily rhinestoned couture. The Rolling Stones’ famous lips logo? Designed by Manuel. Elvis’ gold lame suit? Also a Manuel creation. Manuel was the designer responsible for making Johnny Cash “the man in black”. Hail, Dark AestheticsThis purposefully creepy taxidermy shop might not be for everyone. If you’re a fan of horror, step right in.
