It’s no secret Memphis is the spot to go to for some pretty iconic and delicious BBQ. But every good BBQ-sauce slathered meat platter needs the perfect alcoholic ale to help wash it down.
Here’s our favorite Memphis based breweries to pair with the city’s iconic BBQ.
High Cotton Brewing Co.
Head on over to the Edge District which is just a hop and a skip away from the iconic Sun Studios. At High Cotton you can lounge in their covered breezeway and enjoy any of their excellent alcoholic offerings. We are big fans of their Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout and their Scottish Ale.
Memphis Made Brewing Co.
Looking for a cool neighborhood spot? Check out Memphis Made Brewing Co. a midtown-based brewing co. that serves up local beers. Memphis Made considers it their mission to “raise the bar” for Memphis beer and we think they’re succeeding. They’ve got three well-loved year round favorites (the Cat Nap, Fireside, and Junt) and a rotating selection of seasonal and limited release beers.
Looking to fully immerse yourself in the world of Memphis beer? Take a tour of Wiseacre Brewery, complete with some refreshing tastings (because let’s be honest, is a brewery tour really complete without a tasting?) We recommend their Tiny Bomb, a truly fantastic American Pilsner.
Crosstown Brewing Company
Feeling like a Russian Imperial Stout? Then drop what you’re doing and head on over to Crosstown. They’ve perfect the art of the Russian-Imperial-Stout, a beer that, while somewhat of a mouthful to say, is fantastic to drink. For casual day time drinking, their siren blonde ale will call to you (get it? The Siren will call to you).
