Your New Place in Nooga
Chattanooga, birthplace of the tow truck!... Wait, well, yes, that, and also home to truckloads of cool stuff that’ll surprise you in a smaller Southern city. So, assuming you’re not super into tow-truck culture, we’ll start again:
Chattanooga, home to an outdoors scene with paddling and rock climbing rivaling most Western towns, and one that garnered Nooga “Best Town” – twice in recent years – by Outside Magazine. Chattanooga, aka Scenic City, home to so much good scenery that even its vibrant bluffside arts district comes with a view. Home to the world-class Tennessee Aquarium with its 12,000+ species exhibits. Home to a happenin’ nightlife strip that’s as lively – and let’s keep this on the lowdown – as it is local. Chattanooga, also home to world-class live performance venues, great boutique shopping, tasty restaurants, and more!
Sounds like the kind of experience that ought to be complemented by a classy travel apartment, one that’ll help make you feel at home in this great little city, right? We’ve got you covered. Meet Stay Alfred at Market City Center, travel apartments where upscale decor in homelike living rooms and full, fancy kitchens complement dazzling amenities. Call Stay Alfred at Market City Center your place in Chattanooga, and one that not only puts you in the lap of luxury, but offers quick access to the best of Chattown.
Picture sunny strolls through Tennessee River Park, world-class dining, entertainment, and the arts, throw in some sharks and penguins (that aquarium is huge) and then a hop, skip, and, well, skip the jump, home to a comfy couch, cozy bed, chaise lounges on a sunny terrace, chic resident lounge, and cutting-edge fitness center. You won’t find a better neighborhood, chicer digs, or nicer amenities in Chattown. Start the day getting your sweat on in the gym; end it with a performance at nearby Trivoli Theatre, and then come home to a fancy living room to kick back in and rehash your Nooga adventures.
Stay Alfred at Market City Center offers the best of both worlds: with consistent guest services instead of the risky social experiment of the B&B, and full-size kitchens and living rooms to make you feel like you’re at home, rather than edge-of-bed hotel seating and sneaking down to the lobby late night to nuke-up leftovers. That’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of reasons to book at this awesome travel apartment. Let’s take a look at some more great reasons to choose Stay Alfred at Market City Center.
Downtown Nooga's Biggest Hits
Location, location, location, and Stay Alfred at Market City Center offers that trio in spades. We’ve already mentioned downtown Chattanooga’s high-end dining, world-class live performance venues and outstanding museums, as well as its fantastic location on the banks of the gorgeous Tennessee River, but did you know that its Tivoli Theatre is not only home to great Broadway plays, comedy acts, and big-ticket bands, but also to the nationally renowned Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, the first combined operatic orchestra in the country? There’s a great night out right there! And, you can spend a whole day in downtown’s Bluff View Art District, home of the Hunter Museum of American Art, and a creative hamlet where dazzling visual, culinary and landscape arts abound, all resting atop a bluff with panoramic views of Tennessee River. Is there a better place to peruse fine art and enjoy a tasty meal?
So, good times in Nooga for sure, and we haven’t yet gotten to the Tennessee Aquarium, another full day of fun just blocks from Stay Alfred at Market City Center, with its 12,000+ species including creatures from African mammals to manta rays. Downtown also touts spots like the leg-stretching and scenic Chattanooga Riverwalk, the Chattanooga Zoo, great riverboat cruises, and so much more! All that in a very walkable downtown – plus easy access to hiking, mountain biking and paddle-boarding – make downtown Chattanooga a great place to visit – and stay!
Of course all that fun will work up an appetite! Fortunately, Chattown is a foodie paradise, with heaps of tasty eateries in easy walking distance of Stay Alfred at Market City Center. Order up a New York-style pizza at Community Pie, a hip pub with vintage decor serving great ‘zuh, craft beers, and homemade gelati. Like Latin? Head on over to Mayan Kitchen for tasty tacos and a tantalizing tequila bar serving brunch (easy on the tequila), lunch, and dinner. Got kids in tow want to dine ON the water? Head on down to the waterfront’s 3rd Deck Burger Bar, a riverboat burger joint and bar with a patio overlooking the water, plus lounge seating and kids' games. Adjacent that is the Southern Bell Riverboat also offering great daily dining cruises. There’s nothing more soothing than Southern comfort food on the water!
Nooga nightlife offers plenty of great ways to blow off steam, and the best spots for that are just steps from Stay Alfred at Market City Center. For dinner and live music, we recommend Champy’s, which is country-hip as heck and offers to-die-for Southern victuals and a looong beer list. If your travels have you wanting some time on your feet, hit up the Chattanooga Billiard Club, just a 3-minute walk from Stay Alfred at Market City Center, and a great spot to rack ‘em up with friends or fly solo and meet some locals while enjoying some pool, darts, beer, and craft cocktails. For live bands, comedy, and more, hit J. J.’s Bohemia, a lively local watering hole, just a few blocks from your apartment, with comfy surrounds and good sounds.Still in easy walking distance is the Comedy Catch at The Choo Choo, a longtime comedy venue for local and national acts with an on-site American bar and grill.
Along with kid-fun riverboat cruises, Chattanooga has plenty of stuff to do for children large and small. The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is a great spot for you and the kids to check out century-old steam engines and learn about Chattanooga history. Older kids will love a Chattanooga Ghost Tour, some of the most popular (and scariest) in the nation and complete with stories of spirits haunting Nooga’s notorious nooks and crannies-a great way to learn about Chattanooga and to stretch the legs! And, of course, there’s the Tennessee Aquarium with its awesome exhibits of sea and river animals, birds and butterflies, plus interactive shows and river cruises.
With Outside Magazine voting Nooga as “Best Town” twice in recent years, and Climbing.com calling Chattown “America's New Climbing Capitol,” travelers who love both big-city fun and outdoorsy adventures will especially love Chattanooga’s outdoor options. Even right downtown near Stay Alfred at Market City Center, there are plenty of great places to get outside, get some sunshine, see some nature, and stretch your legs.
Rent a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard and set sail for Maclellan Island, an 18.8-acre refuge with nice hiking loops just six blocks from your Chattanooga digs. Across the Market Street bridge and a mile north of the city center is Stringer’s Ridge Park, offering cool hiking trails and a nice view of downtown. Twenty minutes from downtown but well worth the trip is North Chickamauga Creek Gorge, where you can check out gorgeous waterfalls and stretch your legs on miles of hiking trails connected to the 200-mile (and growing) Cumberland Trail.
On belay! Climbers will find plenty of rocks to scale all around Scenic City. Located right in the middle of the Cumberland Plateau, a rocky, 300-mile-long ridge stretching from Alabama to Georgia, Chattanooga is the Boulder Colorado of the South when it comes to rock climbing, with year-round trad, bouldering and sport routes just minutes away from downtown. Rivaling Cumberland Plateau in size, darn near, is downtown Nooga’s High Point Climbing and Fitness, with indoor and outdoor climbing walls galore, and a great place to get a workout or to meet local climbers. So many outdoor options near such a cool little city! (Off belay.)
