One of the great things about Stay Alfreds is that they have a full kitchen, so after that self check in and bag drop you can go explore the neighborhood and local market to stock up to make meals whenever you want.
But sometimes - you wake up and don’t even want to think about making breakfast because heck, you’re on vacation.
Austin is one of our favorite foodie cities and it does not disappoint when it comes to bringing its breakfast and brunch game. Whether you need a hangover cure from the night before, a family-friendly place for even the pickiest of eaters or a good ole’ Tex-Mex breakfast - we gotcha covered.
The best part? All of these spots are not only some of the best in town and favorites among locals (our Austin staff gave their seal of approval), but they’re also less than either a 10-minute walk or rideshare from your home away from home.
Bird Bird Biscuit - If biscuits are your jam (see what we did there?) - you need to hit up this neighborhood fave. We highly recommend the Queen Beak with spiced and breaded chicken thigh, cayenne black pepper honey and bacon-infused chipotle mayo when you need a little kick in the morning. [8-minute rideshare from Stay Alfred at Alexan E6]
Via 313 at Craft Pride - Oh, pizza brunch and beer, how we love thee. And not just any pizza - Detroit-style pizza (which we Googled and it’s traditionally square and baked in a pan with a thick and chewy crust - you’re welcome). Craft Pride Brewery hosts one of Austin’s most beloved pizza places every weekend for pizza brunch paired with mimosas and beermosas aka breakfast of champions. [5-minute rideshare from Stay Alfred at Muse]
Juan in a Million - It is widely known we are a sucker for puns, pair that with a Mexican breakfast and we’re pretty much in heaven. You’ll feel like family at this place and you can’t leave without ordering the Don Juan El Taco Grande - potato, egg, bacon and cheese in a deliciously hot tortilla. Simple and ridiculously delicious. Oh, and don’t forget to order an horchata for that blissful breakfast salty/sweet combo. [3-minute rideshare or 14-minute walk from Stay Alfred at Alexan E6]
Biscuits + Groovy - Get your groove on with stacked biscuit dishes like the Gloria Gaynor and the Johnny Hash. If you want to keep with the music theme you can walk to Austin’s famous Stevie Ray Vaughan statue in about 12 minutes from here. [2-minute rideshare or 13-minute walk from Stay Alfred at 422 at the Lake]
Sour Duck Market - With a large outdoor eating area, full bakery and coffee shop, plus only locally-sourced ingredients (heck, even the flour used in the bakery is milled locally) - what’s not to love about Sour Duck Market? We recommend you don’t pass up the Pork Belly Pancake (and take home a few goodies from the Bake Case, to boot). [7-minute rideshare from Stay Alfred at Alexan E6]
Bouldin Creek Cafe - Bouldin Creek is a fun and funky artistic neighborhood just south of South Congress - and the Bouldin Creek Cafe is a great place to get a taste for the area. Vegan and vegetarians - rejoice! This place is for you. Try the Oven Cake Breakfast with the house-made blueberry cornbread, the Zucchini and Cheese Migas or any of their sandwiches. [5-minute rideshare from Stay Alfred at Muse]
Better Half - Ok, so technically this place is a bar. It just so happens to serve up one of the best brunches in town. Their signature Better Half Breakfast Sandwich is always solid choice, but save room for Cauliflower Tots and Glazed Donut Holes (that way you hit all your breakfast food groups).
